Haley in promoting her new book “With All Due Respect,” which recounts her time serving in the Trump administration and her work with other former Trump officials like Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and chief of staff John Kelly. In her promotion of such, she speaks to the current impeachment inquiry and the Ukraine controversy. As well, she mentions her belief of and notice of the undermining of the president by Tillerson. This public commentary serves as further evidence of what many have deemed a “witch hunt”.

There are no two thoughts or ideologies that are identical. When it comes to politics or social issues there are no identical twin opinions, only fraternal twins. They may originate from the same place, but they flow through two completely different channels. The strength of America, the strength of this culture, the strength of any people is the ability to celebrate difference not shun it. True unity, at its core, is not conformity but a celebration of difference.

I believe we will see a lengthy impeachment battle that will uncover no crime while showing that congressional Democrats are more intent on pursuing a vendetta against a president than working for and helping the people they’re elected to serve. This will fallout to voters ultimately making the decision both locally, and on a national, federal scale.

It is with this perspective and from this place that my assertion is founded. I am a black male born and raised on the west side of Chicago and here is the controversy: I am a CONSERVATIVE. I grew up this way. I often thought that I was the only one. However, this year I began to reawaken my political senses. As I met hundreds of others both online and in-person who were also black and conservative.

As should be obvious the Lord’s answer was “yes”. The response by many in the Christian community presents a shocking reality, one that personally saddens me. As we have crucified the seemingly widely beloved pastor John Gray and others we have indirectly suggested that engaging in conversation (meaningful and with reformative motives) is something that is synonymous with compromise and this, quite frankly, is a false view.

West claims that he is looking to start a dialogue, delivering a succession of tweets to his nearly 30 million followers, it’s seems that he is doing just that; sparking dialogue and provoking thought among colleagues and constituents alike. This is ever a developing story. For we are in the midst of a political revolution in which political correctness and brash, close-minded conservatism is colliding.

Attending Howard University, for me, was a choice of destiny and that alone. HBCUs, Howard University, specifically celebrate blackness and all that it entails. No institution is perfect, though this does not excuse the actions of the recent Howard scandal, this still should be understood. The impact of HBCUs extends beyond the black community.
